Monkey Puzzle Butterfly

Rathinda amor

Description:

Small butterfly. Mustard yellow colour with white and brown streaks. Tails on hind wings.

Habitat:

Kayaler bagan or Kayal's garden is now a bird sanctuary in the heart of Kolkata city. Although called a garden, it is not a landscaped area with only decorative garden varieties...rather everything growing wild is preserved. So old epi-phyte laden trees rub branches with bamboo groves and wild vines trail all over so called weeds flourish. It was literally raining mangoes when we visited yesterday and all sorts of organisms were having a feast.

Notes:

My father's friend is called Rathin and da is a suffix meaning elder brother....he answers to the name Rathinda in the colony where we live He wants to know what Rathinda means in Latin...i.e., why this butterfly shares his name. I could not find an answer on the Internet. Can anyone help? And I always thought Monkey Puzzle was an unclimbable tree...hence the name. Why is this butterfly called Monkey puzzle? That's puzzling me!
