Gulf Fritillary

Agraulis vanillae

Description:

I see these and skippers most plentifully in my yard.

Habitat:

Suburban yard with spiderwort, lantana, and lots of beggar's tick.

Notes:

I have a corkystem passionflower (Passiflora suberosa L.) growing in my yard, but I often see these on the other flowers rather than the passionflower vine. I have never seen any caterpillars or eggs on my vine despite the fact that the adults spend so much time in my yard.
