Green Lynx Spider

Peucetia viridans

Description:

A large female (abdomen much larger than male) Green Lynx Spider, one of my favorite finds in Arkansas. They really seem to be out in September! Cool Fact: They can change color, but the process takes around 16 days! They can also spit up to a foot away when defending their offspring.

Habitat:

Found perched on top of dried out Curly Dock (this is the second time I have found a large female on this kind of plant.) This was in early September on the edge of the creek at Tucker Creek Trail, Conway, Arkansas, across from Gatlin Park. The sun had just lowered before the treeline in the evening.
