Wrinkled Leccinum

Description:

Cap, cream with brown patches; wrinkled; dry; ca. 2.5-3 inches diameter. Pore surface. Light yellow, translucent pores; 3-4 pores/mm; doesn’t bruise. Tubes depressed around the stipe. Stipe. White with brown scabers (raised grainy projections) that are larger towards the base. Tapers from base to apex. Flesh of cap and stipe strain bright yellow immediately with KOH (3%). No distinctive odor. Spore print. Dark brown. Spores. Smooth, fusiform; 10-15µ x 2.5-3µ

Habitat:

Lone bolete growing in deep shade near lake shore in mixed pine/hardwood forest.
