The first pic is a male, at the second both, male and female. Black head and dors, yellow eyes (male), with a narrow white patch over the lower breast and belly.
Spotted in the Reservoir, Central Park, New York. Hooded mergansers are short-distance migrants, and they winter in the United States in regions where winter temperatures allow for ice-free conditions on ponds, lakes, and rivers.
