Streaked Sphinx Moth

Protambulyx strigilis

Description:

Brown Hawk moth of the Family Sphingidae with pale lavender on the inner edges of the upper wings. The second pair of wings are orange. The 3rd, 4th and 5th pictures were taken in San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters, attracted to the lights of a shopping Mall. The 3rd picture was taken on 14 September 2009, the 4th and 5th pictures on 27 October 2013.

Habitat:

Gas station at night in the town of Teopisca which is about 40 minutes drive from San Cristobal de Las Casas and at a lower elevation.
