Neotropical Ground Lizard

Family: Tropiduridae

Description:

About 10cm body length, excluding the tail. Sandy colouration with mottled flanks and legs; Top of the head is brown, which continues down the back in a broad strip interrupted with dark inverted chevron-like markings; dorsal has a pale outline.

Habitat:

Found in an arid area on the western slope of the Ecuadorian Andes, called "Desierto de Jubones", at about 1500m above sea level.
