Great Egret

Egretta alba

Description:

A white egret which is very common and widespread around Sabah. White feathers all year long, yellow beak, black legs. Egretta alba is also the largest Egret species in Borneo. The egret in this spotting is hunting for insects and other small prey it can find on the grass. The video shows how it strike it's head to grab it's food.

Habitat:

Grassland around Maliau Basin, near Tawau town, Sabah.

Notes:
