Eastern Grass Shrimp

Palaemonetes paludosus

Description:

Small transparent shrimp with small orange bands on the two very thin main pincers

Habitat:

Freshwater canal in shallow water and dense vegetation over mud/silt

Notes:

One of the shrimp in these pictures is a pregnant female carrying her eggs in her swimmerets. These are very common animals that are a favorite food of many larger fishes
