Red Wattlebird

Anthochaera carunculata

Description:

Large honeyeater with small red wattles on its neck which get longer with age, red eye, striped breast and white patch on cheek. They have a tongue specialized for getting nectar from flowers. Note that you can see the lemon yellow on the breast.

Habitat:

Parks, gardens, forests with blossoming trees, etc, this one was found on the Coogee to Bondi coastal walk on a curbside tree. I think the bush is a banksia species but ?
