Parasa Moth

Description:

This moth is about 3/4" in diameter. I spotted this at night near a lightpole

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 4 months into the 6 month rainy season.

Thanks bayucca and J. I thought this might be the chloris as mentioned earlier. However, the green bars on the wings are slightly smaller on this sighting. It may account for range differences between North and Central America. I think that I am willing to put the chloris as the species if you are in agreement. I am not sure and I it is very important that we get this right. If either of you are not completely in agreement we will keep it at Parasa sp. The farthest known range info I could find for spottings is north of here in Honduras.

If the ID from the link is correct, than it might be Parasa chloris. However, in other pictures the green part is larger/broader than in yours, so I am not 100% sure. In addition the range for Chloris should be checked.
