Northern Flicker

Colaptes auratus

Description:

This owl box is usually occupied by an Eastern Screech Owl. The owner of the property told me it has been occupying the box for a few days/weeks. She also found an egg on the ground, so I think this Flicker might have kicked out the screech owl along with its egg.

Habitat:

Neighborhood with lots of pasture and oak
