Southern Silky-Oak

Grevillea robusta

Description:

A tall tree with beautiful orange-yellow flowers arranged like little brushes. Leaves are highly dissected, deep green on the upper side and silvery on the lower side. Pic #3 shows buds and pic #4, opened blooms with hook-like flowers.

Habitat:

These are planted as ornamental trees however, these self-seed and can be seen growing wild.

Notes:

This tree will look glorious when all the blooms are out ! The lower sides of the leaves shimmer like silk in the breeze thus giving this grevillea its common name "silky-oak" or "silver-oak"
