Melopsittacus undulatus budgerigar

Description:

Budgerigar (Parakeet). Budgerigars are a very social species living in large groups. Wild birds have green plumage. Captive breeding has resulted in shades of blue, gray, yellow, white or combinations. There are about a hundred different combination of colors. People keep them as pets.

Habitat:

These colorful parakeets are found at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, Louisiana. Located on the Mississippi River adjacent to the French Quarter In New Orleans. These parakeets live a bird's life. They sing, snack, or snooze and provide us humans with lots of fun. They will land on your shoulder, camera, purse, hand or wherever it chooses. One landed on my purse where I keep my gym and wanted to get inside. Others tried to get in people's pockets. A wonderful experience.
