Cicada Exuvia

Family Cicadidae

Description:

This is an exuvia (plural form: exuviae) of a cicada, it is basically a fancy word for a molted exoskeleton or cicada shell. This one I found intact and I think the cicada had just emerged.

Habitat:

Found outside clinging on a rock, spotted at dusk which is the time they emerge and start singing. Widespread throughout the world.
