Flying Golden Tree Snake

Chysopelia Ornata

Description:

This is a very slender snake. This one was about 1 meter in length, and it has yellow, green and black markings on top with a light yellow green belly. The tail is long and thin.

Habitat:

Our garden Rasada, Phuket near mangroves and jungle.

Notes:

My dog barked and it was his snake alarm bark. I saw the Chysopelia on the ground making its way up a palm tree. It was a bit alarmed by the dog, as much as the dog by the snake. When I started to take pictures the dog did not like me being that close to this very "dangerous" thing that moves. It moved very very fast from branch to branch and finally it realised I was not going to harm it and the dog could not reach him so he stayed a while. I took these pictures and later when I was on the phone he was still hanging around the palm tree, not worried at all. ( I had taken dog inside )
