Sooty Dancer

Argia lugens

Description:

Large for a damselfly, equal in size to an American Rubyspot.

Habitat:

Along the shores of rivers, large streams, as in this case along the banks of Fountain Creek.

Notes:

These images could represent a northerly range extension for the species. I am aware of the Sooty Dancer reaching roughly Pueblo. The specimen depicted is a male.
