Lontra canadensis
The North American river otter, a member of the subfamily Lutrinae in the weasel family (Mustelidae). Sitting high up on a nice perch above the kelp and mussel beds. It was eating something for awhile but I couldn't see what it was.
Spotted on a protected ledge on a small island at Tongue Point.

Thank you Mel, Mauna and Robert for your kind words.
Great series Brian.
Wow. :)
Wonderful set of photos. I have always wanted to see an otter in the wild (any kind - not picky!)
