Melanargia galathea

Description:

This very common butterfly has a body size of some 3 cm, with the wingspan of 5 - 6 cm. Wings are whitish-pale yellow with black markings.

Habitat:

Found on alpine dry meadow, on forest margin. Meadow placed in between the river and small lakes in protected natural reserve of river Rhône.

Notes:

On photos 5 and 6, we the butterfly was resisting a push of a bee, positioning itself on a flower, and not letting go of it - in the end, it was a bee who left the flower.
