Arenaria melanocephala
One of the easier shoreline birds to spot. Dark brown head, chest, back and wings. Feathers on wings have almost white edging. White belly and rump. Short legs, and feet in breeding season will be almost a brown and in non breeding could get orange.
Can be found in rocky shorelines, beaches and on jetties and piers
spotted along shoreline in Rodeo

Sorry I am trying to ID a Black billed Plover at the same time and got them mixed up
Noted - it looked like their was mud covering the legs but I guess it is not covered enough. Black Turnstone it is.
Ruddy are much paler, particularly on the face, with a distinct pattern on the scaps. Plus, the orange legs would stick out like a sore thumb in a shot like this.
Actually Liam this is a Ruddy Turnstone.
You have the binomial name correct, but I've only ever heard it called the Black Turnstone?
