Asian small clawed otter

Aonyx cinerea

Description:

This otter is a very shy creature, difficult to get close enough to photograph.

Habitat:

Adjacent to a small stream. Altitude 1000m.

Notes:

This otter emerged from the scrub alongside a small stream. It was bounding towards me, obviously was not aware of my presence as I crept around hunting for bug shots. I took a knee and waved my arm to get its attention. It froze long enough for me to get the shot and disappeared back into the scrub.
