Saxony Duck (male)

Anas platyrhynchos domesticus

Description:

Rare male (Drake) in the wild, 7-8 lbs. (3- 3.6 kg). Drakes resembles a faded mallard mostly gray, white and tan. Yellowish bill with orange legs and feet. Cross bred of 3 types of ducks: Rouen, German Pekin, and Blue Pommern.

Habitat:

Weissport Canal, Weissport, PA

Notes:

Created/breeding in the 1930's by Albert Franz of Germany. Introduced to North America in 1984. Saxony ducks are considered to be critically endangered in North America.

If you do a google search for Domestic Mallard, search through the images for comparison :-)
