Description:

Large, cigar-shaped wasp, brown with black and yellow markings. Females have an ovipositor and are larger in size.

Habitat:

Found on a sunflower (Helianthus annuus) in a vast vacant lot with grasses, yucca, prickly-pear cacti, elm trees adjacent to a riparian area with cottonwood trees.

Notes:

This is one of the horntail woodwasps in the family Siricidae.
