Odocoileus virginianus
White-tailed Fawn born this past spring (images 1-3) and a Doe (image 4)
In prairie grasses near areas of deep or moderate woods
The first three images are of a fawn born earlier this spring. Its tail is fluffed out in a sign of danger or warning; the higher and fluffier the tail, the greater the fear. The fourth is of an adult Doe also looking up to see what was causing the fawn distress. In the past this has been Coyote, Wild Turkey moving through the grass or in this case, hikers getting too close.

SarahHiteWhitt-Thank you! :-)
Nice spotting! :)
Carolina-Right?!! Just showing one of the features that make "White-tailed" deer so special. Thank you!
What a beautiful tail!
EmilyMarino-Thank you!! Right?! They really are so much fun to watch and photograph. :-)))
Look at that pom-pom of a tail! Great shots! Deer are one of my most favorite photography subjects!
Idgpatillo-Thank you!! If you like deer, check back in a few days. I'll try to locate and share some of my better images as time allows. Deer and Swans hold my heart and thus, most of my attention these days. :-)
JungleLoveMamasita-Thank you! I have so many White-tailed deer images to upload and share. These aren't the best for lighting/detail but show the body language exhibited when fearful or afraid quite well. :-)
Best photo ever!
Beautiful pictures...so sweet looking.
