elegant bunting (female?)

Emberiza elegans

Description:

Either a female or a male with winter pattern.

Habitat:

Bushes and thickets on the edges of wooded areas.

Notes:

First bird of the new year! I have been encountering these birds daily during my forest sessions lately. I find them exceptionally difficult to photograph. As ground feeders they are very flightly and scatter easily.
