Anser cygnoides, Anser anser domesticus
A number of what appear to be swan/goose hybrids of various ages. Some that appear to be domestic other that appear more wild. These were observed in a canal flying, feeding and swimming in south Florida on the easy edge of the everglades west of Weston Florida
Same thought as Liam, Chinese Goose and Greylag Goose. Beautiful photos :-)
Thank you @ForestDragon and @Liam I really like to take "series" shots. Have fun at it. I had never seen them in Florida and these were in a canal attached to the everglades with large alligators directly next to them. Half mile from the location of the "Gator Boys" series on the Discovery Channel, I think. Thought they were domestic and wild but wasnt sure. Thanks again.
I see at least one hybrid, but a domestic hybrid, as ForestDragon indicated. The geese with large, knobbed bills are a domestic breed of Swan Goose (Anser cygnoides) called Chinese Geese, and the smaller-billed geese are domestic Greylag Geese. Both breeds come in white and grey variants.
The hybrid I see is in photos 1 and 3. He's the orange-billed, gray bird on the left in each. One of his parents was a Chinese Goose and the other was a Greylag.
These are not hybrids. They are straight-up domestic geese. You can tell from their body shape. Wild geese are much more streamlined. They may have escaped from a farm or were released into the wild. These can and do hybridize with some wild species.
