Red-tailed Hawks

Buteo jamaicenses

Description:

Red-tails have extremely variable plumage, but will always have the same overall shape. They are fairly blocky, with a cream belly and normally have a belly band present. Most of the time they have a red tail, but not always.

Habitat:

One of the most common hawks in the Americas, they range from northern Canada all the way south to Central America. It has the second highest diversity of habitats it utilizes, first is the Peregrine Falcon. Its preferred habitat is mixed forest and field, with high bluffs or trees that may be used as perch sites

Notes:

These two were sitting on telephone poles next to each other, but when I stopped to take their picture, one flew over to be with the other on the same post.

Glad to see all the great info in your description. Really sweet when you get to see two side by side.
