A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Anthanassa texana
Orange Crescent butterfly with mostly black color on most of the outer edges of wings. There is a prominant white line that separates the black portion of the hind wing. There is a small scalloped line between the larger one and the trailing edge. There are several white spots on the forewing on the black portion and two on the orange portion of each wing.
Spotted along the dikes of the swampy areas of Aucilla WMA.
Spent the day with a Butterfly chapter in the Aucilla WMA and spotted 10 new species. What a fun day.
