Description:

Melanitis leda (Linnaeus, 1758), the Common Evening Brown (family Nymphalidae, subfamily Satyrinae), is a common species of butterfly found flying at dusk. The flight of this species is erratic. They are found in Africa, South Asia and South-east Asia extending to parts of Australia. Melanitis leda leda (Linnaeus, 1758), is the subspecies occurring in the Philippines.

Habitat:

Backyard garden, a frequent visitor in our garage.
