Spotting

Description:

Orange-tan fungus with a slightly concave top (~5" in diameter) with a very short, stocky stalk (0.5 to 1inch). Doesn't appear to have gills, but pores instead.

Habitat:

Growing on a downed hardwood tree in a deciduous forest in the midlands of South Carolina. Photographed at the Stevens Creek Heritage Preserve near Clarks Hill (McCormick County, SC).
