Fungus Eating Lady Bird

Description:

Lady bird size beetle. Black and yellow. This one is sitting on something! Is it prey or eggs?

Habitat:

On a spinach leaf in the vegetable garden

Notes:

Would really like to know what this beetle is doing. Hope someone can shed some light on it for me.

Looks for me more like Illeis galbula than Archegleis barronensis. What do you think?
