Eurema hecabe hecabe
Pieridae; Coliadinae; Eurema hecabe hecabe Linnaeus 1758. There were many Common Grass Yellows in this fallow rice field when I was taking these pictures. Butterflies of the Genus Eurema are known for being skittish. So, I was having to try and keep track of the one I was following around (to get a few pictures of a single specimen). I only discovered later, when choosing the photos to put in this spotting, that I had taken shots of two specimens (one has slight wing damage and the other does not). So, the butterflies shown here are all the same species, but three pictures are of a perfect specimen and three are of one with a slightly damaged rear right wing.
Spotted on foliage in a rice field which has been allowed to rest and grow wild this year.
The Common Grass Yellow must be documented as present in the Philippines because Philippine Lepidoptera display several in their collection. However, Wikipedia only shows Cambodia for this subspecies in their distribution list. This must surely be an error.
