Goat moth

Endoxyla sp.

Description:

About 40mm long; mostly grey with bright orange patch (devoid of scales or fur) and some black markings near head; distinctive zig-zag wing margin above abdomen

Habitat:

Under very bright lights at night on path at local car dealer lot.

Notes:

We have at least two "goat" moths in Tasmania. Both Endoxyla spp.

I think you're right lori. A female probably. Searching more for species. (there's at least 3 called goat moth)

Possibly a goat moth: http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au... Looks very similar to some wattle grub moths I find here.
