Wild turkey (nest)

Meleagris gallopavo

Description:

I was driving out to western Oklahoma when I saw an abandoned house. There were no signs posted telling me to keep out, so I stopped to look around for snakes and such. As I rounded the corner of the house, a wild turkey hen ran out from under a tree. I think we scared each other equally, and after my heart started beating again, I saw the eggs. Not wanting to keep her from her nest, I snapped 2 quick photos and was on my way.

Habitat:

Under a tree behind an old, abandoned house
