Hairy Field Spider web

Description:

These beautiful orb webs are dismantled every morning and recreated again each evening. The central dry-silk zone surrounded by the free zone and further out the main catch web are very clearly seen in these Hairy Field spider webs.

Habitat:

The veld-span fencing (15 x 30 cm rectangular mesh) surrounding my goat pens, attracts many of these spiders.

Notes:

There are 2 fairly similar genera of Hairy Field spider in our area: Araneus and Neoscona
