Mythimna yu
I arrived at the identity Mythimna yu, based on a photo displayed in Philippine Lepidoptera's website. Then, as is my usual practice, I looked at Wikipedia's article because PhiLep, whilst being a great (and reliable) source for identification purposes, often provides just a general summary of what Wikipedia has to say. That was when I ran into a slight complication regarding the Scientific name. Wiki calls this moth Leucania yu (Guenée, 1852). Then in the list of synonyms, Wiki shows Mythimna (Acantholeucania) yu Guenée, 1852. This is interesting, but not very useful in the absence of an explanation. So I am going with PhiLep on this one.
This Owlet Moth was spotted in the front yard of the rice mill. My wife saw it flying into the yard and landing on the ground and took some pictures, using her cellphone camera. It was not in a place where it would be in any danger from vehicles. So, she just left it there and next time she looked, it was gone.
