Asian Weaver Ant Nest

Oecophylla smaragdina

Description:

I am not sure about what was going on in my pictures. The ants were moving around furiously and they can be very aggressive, giving painful bites. So, knowing that discretion is the better part of valour (I was scared), I decided to back off pretty quickly. What I think I saw was two different groups of Asian Weaver Ants fighting over territory. That possibility is mentioned in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weaver_ant....

Habitat:

This Asian Weaver Ant Nest was spotted in the rice mill backyard on a Prickly Custard Apple Tree (Annona muricata L.) locally known as Guyabano. Plant identification - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Guyabano.ht...
