Anabarhynchus sp.
This fly was about 12 mm long and mostly olive-green in colour. The narrow abdomen was telescopic Thorax had a few stiff setae. Wings had a slight orange tint as were the long legs. Large eyes looked cupped in a ring.
Flew in from the garden on a warm day.
Have never seen a fly of this colour or shape before. He was very active making it difficult for me to get more shots.
My thanks to Graeme Cocks and Christine Lambkin for their expertise wit identification. Christine says " Anabarhynchus -Female. Dave Ferguson in ANIC is revising and describing many in this genus. Slight possibility of getting to species from image".
