Nature School For Teachers - Fall 2020 Launch!
In my yard in Kahului. Escaped pet
I'll be darned! As you know these guys sure aren't native to Hawaii, but rather Africa! It's a shame to see escapees... I had a African peach-faced lovebird as a pet for 13 years (He too had escaped from his previous owner and was found eating chicken feed at a local farm). I adopted him from that point on. Just love these cute little guys! Nice find! Have you heard of the big population of these guys in Arizona?
I'm not sure of parrot species but this appears to be a Peach-faced Lovebird (Agapornis roseicollis). See http://www.parrots.org/index.php/encyclo... for more information. Nice photo!
