Archaeoprepona demophon
large butterfly, was only able to get the ventral view
pacific coast rainforest
Spotted in San Cipriano forest reserve.
Thanks again bayucca. It is so true, I often spot butterflies along roads and near small streams, less so on flowers in the forest.
Nymphalidae, Charaxinae, Archaeoprepona demophon.
A nice example why most of butterflies are not feeding from flowers, but from sweat, (rotten fruits), carcasses and feces.
