Green Anole

Anolis carolinensis

Description:

This is a small bright green lizard with a slender tail.

Habitat:

Habitat includes shrubs, plants, and trees. The Green anole can be found in moist environments that offer shade. Distribution: Texas and the southeastern U.S.

Notes:

Fun Facts: 1. Anoles have venom glands that produce a harmless weak venom. 2. Males can be quite aggressive when defending their territory which is generally 35 cubic feet. They will often engage in biting and scratching when protecting their territory. 3. They eat small arthropods such as crickets, moths, butterflies, and small beetles just to name a few.
