The Red Shouldered Hawk is a large raptor with brown upperparts and head. The Chest is white with red brown barrings. The wings are barred above with reddish shoulders. The underside of the wings are pale with dark tips. Wingspan: 32-50 inches.
This bird is a resident in woodlands east of the Rocky Mountains.
