Eastern fox squirrel

Sciurus niger

Description:

This poor squirrel had ice on his back because there was an ice storm the day I took the picture and it must have been very cold and he did not look his best. Considered a rodent. Has reddish to reddish-gray fur on top and cream underside with a creamy eye ring. His tail was all icy and kind of limp looking.

Habitat:

This squirrel was spotted at Frenchman's Wilderness Campground in Butte La Rose, Louisiana. There were two or three of these squirrels in the area.
