Grus antigone
Standing tall! Sarus Crane is the World's tallest flying bird standing 152-156 cm tall with a wingspan of 240 cm. They're known to mate for life with a single partner and are currently placed under the Vulnerable category by IUCN. The main threat to these species is habitat loss and destruction due to rampant development and conversion of land for agriculture. The lack of natural habitat is now forcing them to forage in cultivated land.
Paddyfield cultivation.
I was lucky to observe a graceful pair preening and calling in the evening hours amidst the paddyfield.

Nice spotting Vipul
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
Beautiful!
