Flightless Tiger Beetle

Tricondyla conicicollis?

Description:

Shot this on a trail into virgin tropical rainforest. Could not resist as it was unusually coloured - almost alien-like. An unidentified species of flightless tiger beetle (family Cicindelildae) which mimics a large ant. Not sure of the species.

This might be a Flightless Tiger Beetle from Genus Tricondyla.
It looks very similar to this:

Cool find! I agree with the alien-like appearance, haha! I think this is a species of Beetle. Perhaps an Ant mimic.

Beetle. This looks like an ant-mimic Tiger Beetle. Please consider adding this awesome spotting to the Beetles! mission.
