Long-horned Grasshopper

Conocephalus melanus

Description:

This insect was quite small, approximately 2 cm long and 0.7 cm wide. Its top half of the body was a vibrant red color, while the bottom half was shiny black. The eyes are round and opaque black. It has 6 black legs; its hind legs longer than the others, with a stripe of white across them. This insect had two black and very long antennae, longer than its body.

Habitat:

It was living in a park in Singapore. This insect was resting on a long leaf that was low and clustered near the ground. The climate there was cloudy, since it was early evening.
