Nature School For Teachers - Fall 2020 Launch!
Wilson's because of the thick, solid black bill. Killdeer has two bands on its neck. Little ringed plover has smaller bill, and an eyering.
Large bill is indicative of Wilson's Plover.
Yeh, I thought so Tom, but it sure looks like one.
A Little Ringed Plover would be extremely rare in North America. They breed in Europe and Asia, then winter in Africa.
How about a Little Ringed Plover - Charadrius dubius
Looks like a Wilson's Plover to me. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Wilso...
This is not a killdeer..they have two black rings around the neck. I think this is a plover of some kind, but I'm not great with shore birds!
