Description:

The rice swift is a skipper or skipper butterfly of the family Hesperiidae. Skippers are named after their quick, darting flight habits. There are more than 3500 recognized species of skippers and they occur worldwide, but with the greatest diversity in the Neotropics. Habitat:

Spotted on Madagascar periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus) in a large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed patch of remnant forest.

Looks like I meant to use this bayucca (see my existing 3 reference links) but neglected to add in the species name!

Thanks Lenny. Yes a resemblance certainly, however Pseudoborbo bevani, The Bevan Swift doesn't occur in Papua. There are however 2 species of Borbo genus and I'll be seeing if one of those match :-)
