Small Butterwort

Pinguicula pumila

Description:

Carnivorous plant that traps prey in its leaves with sticky glands and eventually digests them. I have seen these at this location before, so I was hoping to see them again when they were in bloom. Unfortunately, I did not find any flowers that were fully open, but they are still amazing plants nonetheless.

Habitat:

Moist, grassy area near pine and saw palmetto habitat. Many of the butterworts I saw were growing right next to the trail. Hal Scott Regional Preserve and Park
