Predatory Running Mite

Anystis sp.

Description:

This little red fellow is less than a mm in length and all but invisible to the eye. It is probably an Anystis sp. of the Family Anysitidae because it is round with evenly distributed legs. They run about randomly searching for tiny prey.

Habitat:

On a cloth near an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
